Swedish Massage for women only

In the early 19th century a Swede, Per Henrik Ling [1776-1839], developed a scientific system of massage based on physiology using invigorating, yet relaxing, movements working with varying strength, from feather-light touch to circular pressures at slightly deeper tissue level. This type of massage is readily adapted to the needs of individual clients and a special sequence of gentle movements has been developed for the face and head.

Swedish massage is designed to reduce the effects of stress and physical and mental fatigue.

It can:
  • improve circulation;
  • bring relief from pain and muscle tension;
  • improve sleep patterns;
  • reduce tension headaches;
  • increase energy levels;
  • achieve increased levels of relaxation.
Delicately perfumed sweet almond oil is used for all body massages. Talc, massage cream or unperfumed oil will be used if you prefer. A specially formulated light oil is used on the face. When your face, neck and head are massaged it is inevitable that a little oil will get into your hair. If the face is to be included it is better to arrive for the massage without makeup, but cloakroom facilities, cleanser and toner etc. are available if you need to remove cosmetics on arrival or re-apply them before you leave.
